Dear Geoff, (Long overdue letter)

Geoff,

Look, I'm sorry. I know I should have said something to you long before now but I didn't dare take that risk. What if they were watching me, waiting for me to do something and give away my location? I couldn't risk that. I know what I said last time we talked and I would have but... you've got enough troubles on your plate right now, or did anyway. You didn't need me piling another helping on top of it. I needed to go to ground for a while anyway so I took the opportunity to go home. Well, back to the States anyway. Pulled myself completely out of the situation. Hopefully I did it unnoticed.

I really hope you haven't continued my research in my absence. No sence putting yourself in harms way just as I was trying to prevent it. On the other hand, it would be nice to know what's going on. I'm going to have to start from scratch, come at it from a different angle I think. If only those... doesn't matter.

Anyway, you're probably wondering how you found this letter on your desk. Yeah, sorry about that. Picked up a few tricks while I've been away. At least your lock was easy. Oh, that reminds me... you might want to improve the security of your store. Any idiot with a hair pin could get in there and rob you blind! You've got some pretty expensive equipment in here, you know!

Anyway, yes, I'm safe and yes, I'm back but if you don't mind I'll be keeping my distance for the next few days. For one thing, there are entirely too many eyes and ears in this town and from what I've gathered in my short time back that number just seems to be increasing. Standard precautionary tactics. For another... well, I think I'd just as soon wait until you've had time to cool your heals before I approach you just yet. I like my head right where it is and would rather not have it bitten off. I will be in touch soon, though. Just as soon as I figure out my next move.

As always,
Cyn
