Geoff,
Look, I'm sorry. I know I should have said something to you long before now but I didn't dare take that risk. What if they were watching me, waiting for me to do something and give away my location? I couldn't risk that. I know what I said last time we talked and I would have but... you've got enough troubles on your plate right now, or did anyway. You didn't need me piling another helping on top of it. I needed to go to ground for a while anyway so I took the opportunity to go home. Well, back to the States anyway. Pulled myself completely out of the situation. Hopefully I did it unnoticed.
I really hope you haven't continued my research in my absence. No sence putting yourself in harms way just as I was trying to prevent it. On the other hand, it would be nice to know what's going on. I'm going to have to start from scratch, come at it from a different angle I think. If only those... doesn't matter.
Anyway, you're probably wondering how you found this letter on your desk. Yeah, sorry about that. Picked up a few tricks while I've been away. At least your lock was easy. Oh, that reminds me... you might want to improve the security of your store. Any idiot with a hair pin could get in there and rob you blind! You've got some pretty expensive equipment in here, you know!
Anyway, yes, I'm safe and yes, I'm back but if you don't mind I'll be keeping my distance for the next few days. For one thing, there are entirely too many eyes and ears in this town and from what I've gathered in my short time back that number just seems to be increasing. Standard precautionary tactics. For another... well, I think I'd just as soon wait until you've had time to cool your heals before I approach you just yet. I like my head right where it is and would rather not have it bitten off. I will be in touch soon, though. Just as soon as I figure out my next move.
As always,
Cyn

My apologies...
I know I said I'd go over my notes and tell what happened during the year that wasn't but I'm afraid I may have more trouble on my hands. I was spotted today, dear friends. By... Him. No, not the Captain. If that were the case I wouldn't still be here to talk about it, I know. No... this was the Doctor, one of his acquaintances. Bloody Torchwood's going to get me killed.
I was out. I know... in the open. So clumsy of me. But I have needs, too, you know. I don't have anyone else to do my shopping. Anyway, while walking through the park I spotted former PC Gwen Cooper. The very same who is currently working for Harkness. She met with someone and I only wish I could report a sighting. Why didn't I bring my camera? The woman seemed human enough at the distance but who can tell? For all I know, she could have been from the future. Don't laugh! The Doctor all but confirmed the possibility. Speaking of... that's when he found me.
He was incredibly curious about me and the reports of his intellect are not exaggerated. Still, for all his wit he did let one piece slip. Why else would he ask me if I were from the 21st Century if there were not already people here who were from before it? Or even after? Could Torchwood be comprised of people from the future? Here to defend out planet from what they already know is to come?
I don't know what the Doctor will do... does he still report to the Captain? Would he tell them of my presence? Last thing I need is Torchwood silencing me. The people deserve the truth! I'm afraid I'm going to have to go deeper into hiding for a while, my friends. I'm sorry but I cannot risk Torchwood finding me. When I find out more about this woman, if it leads to anything, I'll try to let you know. Just for now, stay strong and remember: we can handle anything together.

A look in the Past.
You know... to this day I question what really happened with Harold Saxon - former Prime Minister of Great Britain. His... what? twenty-four hour reign ended in confusion that the media quickly swept in and covered via the government's prodding. Here's what little I do know and why I believe it ties in with Torchwood.
Harold Saxon was a remarkable man. He helped create the Archangel network which blew away the competition in the telecommunications field with it's advanced technology and superior advances. His knowledge and designs were instrumental in the creation of the Valiant. And his novel reached best seller proportions in near record time.
Before his political career began, however, the man is a complete mystery. Oh, you can learn all you want about his parents, his life at Cambridge, his childhood. But all of it, all a lie. He never truly existed. I wish I could lay my hands on the proof of this, but I know where it exists... in the files at Torchwood.
When Harold Saxon took office he promised the world first contact. I know the government has claimed he was delusional, I know they claimed his so called Toclafaine were figments of his warped imagination but then what killed President Winters? What were those sphere things that appeared on board the Valiant? And what does this man have to do with it?
Captain Jack Harkness

This is the leader of Torchwood and through his efforts, we are safe from the threat of Harold Saxon today. What most people believe is that Saxon killed the president and was subsequently killed by guards on board the Valiant, but one of those guards has spoken with me. He claims he was on board when the president was shot and after... long after it was over. His story was too chilling to be believed but since our conversation I haven't been able to get in touch with him. I can only assume Torchwood got to him.
Some of you may be thinking you know this man's face. Well, you should. He, along with two others, were considered Britain's most wanted the day after Saxon's election. Here are two candid shots I 'acquired' from the CCTV network.

Notice the man in the red box? That's the Captain and two members of his team moments before the police arrived to detain them. They escaped and disappeared off the grid until suddenly appearing on board the Valiant in a room full of people. According to my source, what happened next was not the Prime Minister's assassination but an invasion. One tenth of the world's population were singled out and killed in a show of power, as ordered by Saxon himself, to cow the world under his rule. Perhaps even some of you reading this were killed... we will never know now. An entire year went by that none of us know about nor remember. It was... erased? Reversed? It's complicated but this is how it was explained to me and I know it sounds far fetched but I've seen what Torchwood is capable of doing and I trust my source.
After much thought, I have decided to compile my notes from my conversation with the soldier from the Valiant and explain in my next post exactly what happened during that year. Hopefully, as I have, some of you will come to believe. We all have a right to know what happened during that year, even if it never existed in our histories. We have the right to see just what Torchwood and Captain Jack Harkness are up to. We can face this together. We are ready.

A Necessity.
Please, understand. I do this as much to protect my own hide as I do to inform the people of the world of a potential danger in their midst. Since moving 'across the pond' I have seen some of the most amazing, terrifying things. I have had close encounters with alien life. Mock me, if you will, but you cannot deny the irrefutable evidence I have gathered. And there's more... so much more that I, thankfully, was not a witness to but others have seen before me. And I'm afraid it's only just the beginning...
First, I suppose I should start by saying I'm just an ordinary human, at least, last I checked anyway. These days... well, I was born in a relatively unknown town in Iowa. I say unknown because unless you're from Iowa or have spent any real time there, you probably have never heard of it. Like the lion cub it was, it constantly tried to proclaim it's dominance and size while at the same time being overshadowed by the greater importance of her sister city. What drove me from this insignificant town to the great lights of London I can't tell you. Perhaps, I simply never felt American enough to remain. Perhaps, it was fate, if you believe such things. At any rate, I found myself in one of the grandest cities England could offer and what I saw there lead me to Wales... to Cardiff... to them.
I don't know who they are, where they come from, but I know what they do. They constantly fight the alien threats to this planet. Ever hear a story about a giant demon killing people with only it's shadow? They fought it. Remember waking up and looking at the sky to find, not our precious sun, but twenty-six planets like moons circling our orbit? Creatures shaped like trash cans threatening total annihilation to those who refused to cooperate? They were there. They fought. Even now, they defend this planet. And they do these things in secret because the public is simply not ready to face the truth: Aliens are out there and not all of them are benevolent beings like E. T. or Superman. Some... most... are dangerous and aggressive.
I don't know how long I'll remain off their radar, especially now that I've gone public with my knowledge, but I will continue to monitor their movements as best I can. The world deserves to know what's going on around it. The public is ready to accept the truth. The people have the right to the secrets kept beneath the Millennium building. What is Torchwood doing now?
